If your family is anything like our family, burgers are a built-in staple. However, cutting back on red meat took out the typical “Double Quarter-Pounder” from our dinner menu. These days, we mix up our delicious turkey burgers for an easy go-to meal, full of protein and healthy greens! The texture is excellent and flavors are amazing!

  • 1 1/2 Pound
    Organic Ground Turkey Breast
  • 12 Ounces
Black Beans, drained, rinsed & soaked for at least twenty minutes; and dried
  • 2 Cups
Spinach; washed, rinsed, ripped or chopped fine
  • 8 Ounces
    Vidalia onion, chopped fine
  • 6 to 8 Ounces
Panko crumbs or gluten free breadcrumbs
  • 1
    large egg or egg substitute
  • 1 Tablespoon
    garlic powder
  • 3/4 Teaspoons
    sea salt
  • 3/4 Teaspoons
    black pepper
  • 1 Tablespoon
    chili powder
  • 1 Teaspoon
    dried jalapeno flakes, optional*
  • 1 to 3 Tablespoon
    coconut oil, for cooking patties

Instructions

  1. Simple Directions:

    1. In large bowl, combine all ingredients and mix very well together.

    2. With gloved hands, pinch handfuls of turkey mixture in to balls and shape them in to patties. Sliders and full-sized burgers work best for this mixture.

    3. In large skillet or pan heated on medium-high heat, cook patties in melted coconut oil in pan until cooked completely through. This takes roughly four to six minutes per side.

    4. Serve immediately, or refrigerate patties up to three days in an air tight container in the refrigerator. Turkey burgers can also be frozen for up to six months.
(Thaw completely from frozen state before cooking.)

Serve on bun or on top of a bed of mixed greens.
