OH, Forks! March 2016 Updates!

~

As in past years, 2016 has started off hectic, stressful, and packed with busy. We successfully led a food drive in the memory of my Grandma Nancy, laid her to rest, and I have pushed through half of one of my busiest college semesters I’ve had to date. I’ve also been busting tail on the ice cream line that’s coming soon, and solidifying packaging for all of these new products. Life won’t ever stop me from this…but it sure has slowed me down a bit!

The ice creams. The Oh, Forks! Socially Frozen Sweets & Treats ice cream & sorbet line is designed to be dairy free, egg free, low-sugar or natural sugars, andIMG_20160229_104520 jillis bday ice cream have all natural and homemade ingredients. Once completed, my flavor list will have over 30 options to choose from, with multiple sizes available to buy; including the multi-flavored 4oz packs. Upon selection, one can choose their base (coconut milk, almond milk, cashew milk, or rice milk) and the flavorings from our list. Turnover for custom orders will be the same as the other #OHFORKS #orderables, and certain “common” flavors will always be on hand. I’m using 100% recycled containers for the ice creams, as well as product bags, which is a great feeling. The containers will also have nutrition labels and ingredient info, too. (Now that I’ve mentioned nutrition labels, you know why it’s taking longer than expected! Such a process I’d conveniently forgotten since creating the last cook books!)

The dry mixes and spices. The Oh, Forks! Dry Mixes will also be available soon! I plan to release a few dessert mixes, plus a few bread mixes at first. These mixes will be gluten free, and will have the ability to be made with or without certain other allergens (such as egg and dairy). I am still in the design process for the packaging of these dry mixes, but it is looking more like thick bags with hanging ability. The spices are in the same realm of creation and packaging selection.

The goals are still the same: to be in the local food markets, sell online and ship, and give people safe gluten free/paleo/healthier options to keep them on track…. even when they need something sweet! Of course, there are still other cook books on the horizon and in the planning stages. I’m glad I’m able to take my time with this and make sure that I’m building a solid base before jumping into anything too extreme. My business teachers would be proud of my focus on overhead and marketing, and my long term goals.

I’m grateful to those who have stuck by me thus far, and will continue to in the future! These ice cream, sorbet & dry mix samples are going to be coming out soon! I’ll be posting sign up forms for those local in Allen County to receive a free sample! And some of you will just get some because! So there!

If you’re gluten free, consider sharing our page and our links with your friends. We’re working on building our presence in Fort Wayne- and everywhere, and any help is appreciated!
