Oh, How the Garden Grows… ~ I love the growing, blooming, and blossoming parts of summer. I love that in May I can plant loads of seeds, and spend the next 4 months cultivating, nurturing, and growing the biggest bad-ass fruits and vegetables around! I love that I can lose myself for what seems like hours pulling weeds, staking plants up, and pruning. I love even more that I can then create recipes to that use these wonderful, organically grown foods, to share with you! It’s not easy venture having a ginormous garden every year. […]

OH, Forks!™ Nutrition Label Hell
OH, Forks!™ Nutrition Label Hell Now that I’m officially on fire with this new nutrition label program, the perfectionism has stepped in. I think I’ve said before that novel writing is MUCH easier than cook book design! I’m still averaging about an hour per recipe in BOTH programs! Doing the math, that’s only equaled one recipe per night! DISLIKE! Because there HAS to be a better way, I’ve spent the last few days testing out new methods, new ways of creating the most output, with the least input? Bah. I’m losing my mind in calorie […]
OH, Forks!™ Updates April 2014
Gluten Free for Me Cook Book Updates April 2014 ~ It’s hard to believe that April is almost half over, but we’re so thankful that the weather has finally taken a warm turn!! With the publication of Skye Falcon’s Phoenix on Fire going live, the focus has now shifted back to this fabulous cook book! Hopefully, with no major hang ups….we’ll have the “birth” of this new baby this summer!!! As I sat today watching my kiddos at swim practice, I began rifling through the pages, and pages, and pages of recipes we have made from […]
Gluten in the News: “Royals” YouTube Video: Gluten Version
Gluten Free “Royals” Music Video ~ This hilarious take on Lordes’ current hit song Royals, done by a gluten intolerant friend, is worth your few minutes!! I couldn’t help but stop, take a minute to watch (and re-watch), and share it with my friends! Most everything we deal with in our lives with avoiding gluten and allergens is serious, and sometimes stressful. Although the words of his remake are very true, it spins a fun light around this…excuse me… “shitty” topic. You can watch this awesome short remake by clicking the link below! Don’t worry, it only […]
Gluten Free: What does that even mean?
Gluten Free: What does that even mean? ~ Over three million people in the United States alone suffer from different levels of gluten intolerance. Many of those people are unaware that they have a sensitivity at all. Some of these people suffer from Celiac Disease, which is an autoimmune disorder. In folks with Celiac’s, the smallest trace of gluten can trigger the mass production of antibodies that damage the lining of the small intestine. Sometimes the damage is beyond repair. This condition poses other health risks, but also affects osteoporosis, infertility, and intestinal cancers. Until this […]

Gluten Free Breakfast Tips
Breakfast: Keep it Clean, Simple & Gluten Free. It seems that when people first make the big change over to a gluten free diet, a clean eating diet, or any diet for that matter, sometimes when it’s tricky, meals are left out. Forgotten. Skipped on purpose. We all know now that it isn’t healthy to do that, and that it makes for a terrible eating pattern, and thusly, and terrible GI pattern, as well. It’s not as hard as it seems to find easy, simple things that go with the gluten free diet. There are […]
Gluten Free Flours: Bob’s Red Mill Flours ROCK!
Gluten Free Flours: Bob’s Red Mill Flours ROCK! ~ If you’ve stumbled into the gluten free lifestyle, by now you may be getting braver, and learning that eating pre-packed, premade gluten free foods is great—but unhealthy! Recent studies have shown that in numerous brands of premade GF foods, they compensate to keep freshness and flavor by loading extra fat, calories, and preservatives! That’s one thing I’ve always appreciated about Bob’s Red Mill flours. They’re high quality, and you know exactly what you’re getting. I’ve used Bob’s Red Mill flours for the majority of my cooking […]
Gluten: Learning What’s Safe & Unsafe to Eat
Gluten: Learning What’s Safe & Unsafe to Eat ~ Once you digest that you’ll be avoiding gluten, you have to begin by learning what things contain gluten, and what things don’t. You’ll have to teach yourself how to know and understand that even cross contamination of gluten free, and food that has gluten in it can still seriously affect you. This is the point where many people decide if they’ll try out these new “gluten free” labeled pre-made products, or if they’ll go the more “clean eating” route, sticking with natural foods. Regardless of your […]
Gluten Free Safe Food List
Gluten Free SAFE Food List ~ I remember when we first began the gluten free journey…and this list was all I wanted. I was tired of being “told” what to avoid, I wanted to SEE what I could eat, and feed the kids. This list helped me do just that. I got this list over a few year span from our time at Riley Hospital with our child, and learning all about Celiac disease. Of course this is not every gluten free safe food. There are even more things out there! These are just the […]
